Books and books and books and CDs. And movies.

I was so proud of myself for narrowing down my reading to three books........ The Lauren Winner book is brilliant - I'm purposefully reading that one a bit slow, soaking in the wisdom. Fiction may be my favorite genre, thus The Kite Runner has been my weekend focus, distracting me from the also brilliant Schaeffer book - I should be finishing Ch. 2 for an online book club with friends. Then today I received a package for a freelance writing gig: a CD and a book! I got a free book! Now I'm back up to four books - oh well. If I could also acquire jobs to regularly review fiction; any upcoming books by Kathleen Norris, Annie Dillard, and Lauren Winner; any book from Eighth Day Books; and any CD, movie, or book for Paste magazine, I'd really be in business.

The assignment is from Grassroots Music: a Bruce Carroll CD and the new book by Margaret Becker.

And, I'm interviewing Kemper Crabb next week - not for GR, for Kemper's web site.

Sounds like fun, Jenni! One of my favorite "jobs" ever was interning for Grassroots and writing album reviews/conducting artist interviews. Memories.......
