My Mom e-mailed me an art history lesson regarding my "Valley of Vision" entry today. The painting I chose is of Elizabeth Freake and her baby, Mary; it just so happens to be one of my Mom's favorite paintings and currently hangs in her classroom. It was also used in the Baylor AP history conference my Mom attended in college. The art shows the Puritans did not always wear drab black and gray, and that they did have possessions they were proud of and thankful for, which also contradicts those who don't understand the Puritans properly.
