I had another blog entry planned, but my brain is not cooperating today. I'm nursing a sore throat + melancholia w/Throat Coat tea and good poetry.
To cheer myself up, I've taken to more window-shopping (online). Nicole hipped me to VivaTerra, a very cool site.
Here's my wish list:
[all photos courtesy of VivaTerra]
[a teak bath mat. This would go right by our bathtub. I've had my eye on similar wooden bath mats from TOAST and west elm, but I rather like the sustainable source of VivaTerra's teak wood. However, I'm gonna cave one day and pay the U.K. shipping charges for something - TOAST makes me drool.]
[a small rustic cabinet. I miss having a medicine cabinet. Plus, there is too much clutter on our bathroom counter. Our counter is spacious, and I'm grateful, but the clutter of toiletries bugs me. And I don't want to reach under the sink every five minutes. Johnny thinks this cabinet is too small, but maybe it could hold my short toiletries. Or cute items, like in this picture. Or maybe we can find something similar & bigger.]
[a teak ladder w/shelf. This would be fabulous in our living room. I could drape magazines and the newspaper over each ladder rung, and set breakables on that nifty shelf, out of the cats' reach.]
[or a kiri wood magazine rack - a cheaper solution for magazine storage]
[a vintage slate chalk board. We really need a chalk board in the kitchen; if not this one, then one like it. I need to jot down grocery list items as they come to mind vs. believing that I'll remember later.]
[teak flatware. This would probably be our first purchase from VivaTerra. I'm not throwing out our silver flatware (a wedding gift) any time soon. Each piece is still very nice and nostalgic, but each fork, spoon, and knife are very scratched-up as well. I think this teak set would be lovely for guests. I'm really into teak.]

I have enjoyed your blog for many months... reading checking in when I lived in in the northwest region and now as I've relocated to to the Texas area. But recently I've been reading less as the blog has become more a wish-list of items from online shopping than a writerly-blog of observations on life and living. I miss the old contemplative entries and look forward to their return.
i, too, enjoy your blog very much and i was going to say the exact opposite of our anonymous reader above. i LOVE all of your online shopping links. in fact, i'm on my way to viva terra this moment!! a little good shopping mixed in is never a bad thing! xoxo
Anonymous - Thanks for your feedback; I'm glad that you usually enjoy reading here. I prefer the contemplative entries, too, but I've been struggling with some pretty serious health issues for several months, and at times, a "wish list" is the best I can do. And well, I love to write, but I also like to shop a little bit. Plus, some of my regular readers have actually told me they like the combo. of contemplative + "window-shopping." I hope you'll stick around because I'm really trying to ignore my health and be a writer.
Thank you, Laura.
:)
I like it all. :^)
I concur with Johnny. I like it all too! I so need that teak bathmat. I'm so tired of bleaching my white one. this would be a great alternative! I just love Jenni's soul, so I of course love the contemplative posts, but she's given me plenty of shopping links that have proven very useful! yay!
I LOVE your taste and style! Not only do you stir us to be wiser consumers, you support the sustainable. Keep up the great work!
I like everything "Jenni".
Thanks, y'all!
