Strangely, I've been singing "You Are My Sunshine" today. I think the fault lies with the very cool Etsy shop, YeeHaw. Specifically, this letterpress print. But the print I really want is "Keep on the Sunny Side." I guess I still have a thing for sunlight, folk songs, and The Carter Family. I probably always will.

Now for you letter writers, don't you share my admiration for this hand-carved custom return address stamp?:

I already have a personalized return address stamp that I adore ~ my Mom gave it to me after I drooled over hers. But one day it might be nice to alternate between the two stamps, I think.

Also, I keep peeking at this correspondence record book. I truly, desperately need one to keep track of my belated letters due, and to help my low thyroid brain. Plus, it's vintage-looking and cheery. You have to be a member of the Letter Writers Alliance to purchase one, and luckily, that pertains to me.

[we let time get away from us today, mostly my fault, and we have Church in a bit....]
In a few hours Tomorrow at noon, we're off to an artsy outing, completely free: the Menil, Rothko Chapel, and Byzantine Fresco Chapel - postponed from last week. I might try to snap photos of the buildings' exteriors and the charming surrounding neighborhood. If we ever win the lottery, I'll try to sweet-talk Johnny into living in a bungalow on Sul Ross or Branard. I've loved that Houston location ever since I first stepped foot into the Menil, an eclectic art museum that cleanses my psyche and refuels inspiration. Can you imagine living just down the street?

i'm thinking our new with a new address makes me deserving of an address stamp like that. and your home is still fairly new so i think you should indulge, too.

and that part of town does indeed seem to be great.

You should definitely have one, Kate - to celebrate your new house!

I wish you'd visited us while we were on Branard (or while we were on Sul Ross, for that matter!) You've made me homesick (again!)

Five minutes after I posted this our phone rang and it was the agent who sold our house on Branard--it's for sale again!

Sorry to make you homesick, Allison! You might not want to read my newest entry, "the menil." And don't tempt me with your old house!
