autumn mail & rain
I just walked outside to the mailbox; there are dark rain clouds up above. Inside the mailbox: a Crate & Barrel catalog and a Toast catalog - do they even make such beautiful catalogs in America? I've been flirting with some Crate & Barrel coffee mugs for awhile - I'm beginning to collect a motley crew of tea/coffee cups. The Chamba Tagine fits the Simmons' decor, too.
Back inside, I'm watching the natural light dim and listening to our wind chime singing the news of rain. I recall this verse:
"Be glad, O people of Zion,
rejoice in the LORD your God,
for he has given you
the autumn rains in righteousness.
He sends you abundant showers,
both autumn and spring rains, as before."
(Joel 2:23, NIV)
I am grateful today ~ for my Dad's health, and for the forthcoming evening nestled inside with good catalogs, the Wendell Berry interview, books, and candlelight.

I'm glad to hear that your dad is doing well.
Whew! Thankful about your dad.
Thanks for the link to the WB interview. I'm in the middle of reading "What are People for" and loving it.
Uh oh, Allison - there you go recommending a book again!
