Sunday Eyesights

Johnny plays drums very well and I dabble in writing, but he believes we are capable of learning other art forms. He further believes this is true of everyone. It may take a long interval to even semi-master these artistic pursuits, but there is fun to be had while learning. He and I both want to learn guitar, he is interested in learning bass, and I'm adding photography to my goals.

A friend took up modern dance for the first time in her life at the end of August and I was extremely inspired. I've never been a good photographer, yet I've had fun the past month (or so) taking pictures and discovering what comes out of the camera - good, wretched, clear, or fuzzy. If I slow down and take the time, it's a very therapeutic process. I've also been sucked into flickr, but my main objective there is to drool over photograph after stunning photograph. There are many more photos, but you have to join flickr to see (it's easy). I sense an addiction.

I asked Johnny to help me locate the digital camera manual so that I can finally (honestly) study its technical pages this week. I enjoy capturing my eyesight on digital "film" and I hope to learn more tricks of the trade. In the meantime, here's what caught my eye today.

Johnny crafted our Church's bulletins this week, and I love the new font he selected for "Church of the Holy Trinity":

Plaid bamboo leaves:

My favorite spiritual kitsch in the house, and the hue of today's piece of bread. Why, it's the color of our kitchen walls:

Milo behind the bathroom curtain. He is one year old this month:

The well-stocked incense drawer collage, and Harley modeling my choice for today - Kyoto Autumn Leaves:

You gotta see this video, too. Daniel Lanois, Daryl Johnson, Emmylou Harris, and Brady Blade! (is that Buddy Miller at the very end?) Johnny sent me the link and as I watched it the first time, I choked up and felt tears in my eyes. It is one of the best songs ever written, and there's something about the way Lanois sings and plays - how the whole group sings and plays - that is perfection.
