I don't know what got into me today, but I needed change. In fact, we moved an antique chair across the living room last night and it all started there. Today I discovered that Milo cannot handle pine cones sitting in bowls. He must knock them on the floor and kick them, or carry one around in his mouth. I placed pine cones in a mason jar, quite pleased with myself. The green acorn postcard is now on display via a mini easel from Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart is not my favorite oversized controversial chain store. I choose Target first any day, but I've been looking for brown twine and wooden clothespins, and apparently those are hard to find in my neck of the woods. Or maybe I gave up too quickly while hunting in Target. So, we ventured into Wal-Mart and I found hemp twine, the clothespins, a mini easel ($2.00), and a gorgeous square wooden bowl ($1.86). I've been admiring inspiration wires on many a blog lately, and it's high time I string one across a wall in my writing room, hence the twine and pins.
I also tweaked our fireplace mantel today - removed pine cones from a cat's leap, shifted wooden acorns, moved a few in other rooms, and set the tree writer note card next to a framed photograph. The card is stunning in person ~ the perfect shades of brown, cream, and brick red, and I feel as though I know that girl writing under a tree. The artist is Carson Ellis who is mostly known for her Decemberists album artwork, but dear God, look at what else she can do. I keep thinking about her art, the colors, like dreams.
All of this and I started messing with my blog today. I could not get it right. The link color was bugging me. I tried to avoid a white background because a few friends use the same, but I hope they understand. I'm inspired every single day by hoping for happy accidents and K. Cooper Kordylewski's style - blog design & content. Her aesthetic couldn't help but to influence my blog's new 'do as well.
I hope you like it! Let me know if the font is too small or something, but the clean white/black/brown look is here to stay for awhile.
