watching/reading/listening

Those are some of my Christmas gifts (and our Godson's artwork underneath The Daring Book For Girls). I am blessed seeing as I adore good books, music, and films. I'm also thankful because as of last week, I have a newfound love for reading. I've always loved to read, but since I went and got so sick, I've had trouble focusing on an entire book. One of the many symptoms of a body-wide yeast overgrowth (as well as yeast die-off) is brain fog. I may not feel 100% yet, but I'm happy to say the brain fog has lifted and I'm back to my nose-in-a-book ways!

And, there is a song which has carried me through some of my darkest moments since the summer; the times I find myself questioning the Lord in a manner I'm not proud of. I thank Sandra McCracken for writing "Shelter", as I know I'm not the only soul to find comfort from her lyrics:

In the arms of a good Father
You can go to the deep water
Where the questions, we have left unspoken
Come out in the open
We will find shelter here

So I lay down, what I cannot hold in my hands
Every sorrow and hope spinning out of control
And here I find sweet resolution comes in letting go
And we will find shelter here

When I look back I can see,
And when I am old I’ll remember these things
Like a mountain of stone
And the longing that makes me believe…

There is a tree by the blue river
Where the shade stretches wide over
In this breaking we are hand and glove
Come with me my love
We will find shelter here
We will find shelter here…

In case you missed it on my blog before, here is a video of "Shelter."

P.S. ~ Completely unrelated to that lovely song is the fact that Johnny is kindly making lunch for me: avocado slices wrapped in turkey deli meat, the avocado sprinkled with garlic salt; taro chips, and iced green tea. Just wanted to share my excitement.
